Derby Airfield Flying Experiences
Situated between Greater Manchester and Yorkshire, nestled in the hills and known for the beautiful Peak District National Park is the county of Derbyshire, often a destination for home and international tourists alike. On the banks of the River Derwent you’ll find the City of Derby which is just 7 miles away from Derby Airfield.
Today, Derby Airfield honours this heritage by offering a wide range of Vintage Flying Experiences for those wanting to get close to WW2 history. Not only this, but it is also the home of Derby Aero Club, a friendly, family owned flying club specialising in flying training in light aircrafts such as the Cessna 140, 152, 172 and Beagle Pup 150. Known amongst the local aviation community for being a brilliant place to learn how to fly and work towards a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) this airfield may be small and family run, but it still has a mighty role in training the next generation of pilots.
Vintage Flying Experiences at Derby Airfield

With the chance to fly in a 1930s Tiger Moth, initially used as a biplane by the RAF to train pilots throughout WW2, these stunning planes have been fully restored with complete functionality for you to learn in. Not only will you gain some flying experience, but experience what it was like for pilots doing their training in the run up to WW2.If you want to take this further, Derby Airfield are even offering a complete Dambuster experience, taking you to the famous Derwent site that played a significant role in Operation Chastise, where 617 Squadron practiced dropping bombs here ahead of the real operation against the Germans. Throughout this, you’ll fly in a Tiger Moth and explore an area that had such a key role in shaping operations throughout WW2.

Terms and Conditions for Derby Airfield
Once you order a voucher, it will be dispatched by one of our agency partners by e-voucher or by post, depending on which you choose when you checkout.
Vouchers are valid until the expiry date shown on your Voucher (typically 10-12 months).
In most cases, once you activate your voucher you will be sent the instructions to redeem the voucher directly with the airfield or operator. Because flying experiences (other than simulators) can only take place in suitable/ safe weather conditions, you must be prepared to be flexible on your activity date. If the agent or operator cancels your experience date, they will inform you as soon as possible and do their very best to offer an alternative date or location. Once a specific date has been booked, you will automatically become bound by the terms and conditions that the individual operator may have. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure the descriptions contained on our products are a true reflection of the experience, these do not form part of a contract. If on contacting the operator you feel that the activity taking place no longer accurately represents the activity purchased, the relevant agent will exchange the voucher or refund the purchase price.
