About the experience
This one-of-a-kind Spitfire simulator is housed in a world-class facility in Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex, where it is used as part of the flight training programme for new Spitfire pilots. It's a real treat to be able to offer slots in this professional-level Spitfire sim - and we're just as excited about it as you are! The original parts from a genuine World War II Spitfire were used to build this simulator, as were new parts destined for but never used on modern Spitfire restoration projects. Custom parts were also installed to convert this analogue plane into a digital flying machine. As you sit in the cockpit, everything appears to be real because it is. The gauges, for example, are original, with working needles and dials that are all controlled by the modern electronics installed behind. The Spitfire feels just as real. That's because the configuration is identical to an MkIX Spitfire, right down to the motion and feedback. Every bump on the grass runway, as well as turbulence, will be felt. The dome's visuals create an all-encompassing flying scene with seamless projection of the nose and wings. It even sounds right, with that distinct Merlin engine growl emanating from your headset.
