About the experience

Experience the exhilarating sensation of speed and tranquillity with our range of Peterborough gliding experiences! Glide gracefully above the picturesque landscapes of Peterborough and the surrounding Cambridgeshire countryside and savour the feeling of powerless flight. Located at St. Guthlac's Lodge near Crowland since the early 1980s, our Peterborough centre is dedicated to providing a relaxing and enjoyable environment for our members and visitors. Our small yet well-organized setup is equipped with a duty pilot, ground crew team, and tug team to ensure a smooth and memorable gliding experience for you. You will receive instruction in one of our modern two-seater trainer gliders, such as the Puchacz or Twin Astir models. Our Chief Flying Instructor, Ross Morriss, or one of his team members, will guide you through the craft as it is prepared for launch. Once secured in the glider, you will be pulled into the air by the tug aircraft. As you follow the glider protocol, you'll find yourself soaring through the air with the pilot instructor, enjoying the peaceful sound of wind rushing without motorized noise and learning about the search for 'thermals' as the Peterborough landscape unfolds below. Whether you opt for a single Peterborough gliding experience with an aerotow release at 2000 or 3000ft or the exhilarating Mile High Flight, you are in for an unforgettable adventure. Our one-day introduction to gliding provides a comprehensive insight into glider operations, offering not just one but three aerotows from our Peterborough airfield, ensuring you'll be hooked on gliding in no time!
