About the experience

Experience the thrill of a helicopter lesson in Devon, where you'll soar over wild moors and hover above the breathtaking coastline. These 30-minute lessons offer unparalleled scenery in the South West and provide a comprehensive introduction to helicopter flying. Departing from Dunkeswell Aerodrome, nestled in the heart of Devon just a few miles north of Honiton, this airfield sits 839 feet above sea level, making it the highest licensed airfield in the South West and the entire UK. The operator's Devonshire base allows for a range of helicopter services, including lifting and craning to remote areas, specialist aerial photography and filming, as well as airborne survey work and training. This experience is designed as a trial lesson, offering participants the chance to not only revel in awe-inspiring views from the all-glass domed chopper but also take the controls, if they wish. The helicopter likely to be used for your lesson is a two-seater Sikorsky S-300, renowned for its agility and reliability with a single, three-bladed main rotor. Dunkeswell Aerodrome, affectionately known as 'Mudville Heights,' has a rich history as an ex-RAF and US Naval base and is now a thriving hub for general aviation.
