About the experience
There aren’t many opportunities around that allow you to experience what it was like to fly a Spitfire during World War 2. But if you’re a keen history fan who is desperate to gain a greater understanding of what pilots went though, a session in this Spitfire Simulator at RAF Mildenhall should be high on your list. Not only is it located in a former key RAF and USAF venue ran by skilled staff who have worked at and even been involved in RAF Mildenhall when it was an active base, but gives you a chance to experience one of the most realistic replicas around. This session is run entirely by RAF avionics engineers, who will walk you through a session in a training sim first, so you can get to grips with the controls, that way, when you actually sit in the Spitfire Sim you will be prepared for flight. Once you’re ready, you will take a seat in this Spitfire replica cockpit fully equipped with analog controls and tactical feedback that provides all the sights and sounds of Spitfires that once soared over the skies of Britain. With several flight scenarios to choose from, including a Battle of Britain aerial dogfight, this is one of closest flying sensations you can get to the real thing. If you are a long time admirer of these wonderful planes, or know somebody who is, a session in a Spitfire Sim is truly the next best thing to get a real taste for what pilots went through during WW2.

- The simulator boasts complete replica cockpit, analogue controls and tactile feedback that surrounds you in the sights, sounds, and feel of the spitfire
- All sessions start with short briefing and 30 minutes on a training simulator, getting you familiar with flight instruments, start-up, taxi, take-off, flight controls and landing
- Training sessions are designed to prepare you for your flight in the Spitfire
- Choose from several scenarios for your spitfire session including a Battle of Britain Dogfight, choice of World War Two airfields and may more
- Two guests may accompany you to watch your session

- Under 18s must be accompanied by a spectating adult
- You must be fit and agile enough to climb into the cockpit (Example: It's like climbing into a bath and back out again)
- Participants will require a degree of mobility
- No wheelchair access

- This is a fixed base/ static simulator and does not move
- Simulator experiences are available throughout the year
- Vouchers are valid for weekday Tuesday to Friday
- Saturdays are available for a £15 surcharge payable when booking your date
- Sessions are available between 09:00 and 17:00
- Two guests may accompany you to watch your session
- There is a waiting area for additional people (maximum of 4) - please inform when booking if you plan to bring along any extra people
