About the experience

Experience the thrill of flying with a fun and relaxed flying lesson at Tatenhill Airfield in Staffordshire. Conveniently located with easy access from across the Midlands and just a short drive from Burton upon Trent, this airfield has been welcoming flying enthusiasts since 1987. It's not just a flying school but also a CAA-approved light aircraft maintenance provider, making it a great place to take your first steps into the world of aviation. The airfield is home to six friendly, fully qualified pilot instructors and a fleet of well-maintained aircraft. You'll be flying in the iconic Piper Archer, a four-seater aircraft that's known for being easy to handle—perfect for beginners. Plus, if you want to share the experience, you might even be able to bring a guest along to watch your lesson from the back seat! Your session kicks off with a straightforward pre-flight briefing to get you comfortable with what to expect. Then, you'll be introduced to the aircraft and its controls. Once you're up in the air, your pilot will handle the takeoff and landing, but once you’re cruising at level flight, it’s your turn to take the controls. You’ll be soaring over the Staffordshire countryside, feeling the freedom of the open skies. And if you find yourself hooked on flying, you’re in luck—your flight time can actually count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). So why not give it a go? Book your lesson today and get ready for an awesome day out in the skies!
