About the experience

Where better to get a head start on learning to fly than at Headcorn Aerodrome near Ashford in Kent? This exciting 45 minute flying lesson, in a light and sporty Ikarus C42 is the perfect aircraft to begin your flying career from. Headcorn is a pretty historic airfield in itself; it was Shenley Farm Airfield when it first opened in the 1920s, before being requisitioned by the RAF for World War II, when it became RAF Lashenden. In the time since of course, it's returned to civilian aviation, but a nod to its military past is kept alive by the parachuting school and Air Warfare Museum that are both on-site, a lasting memento of the bravery and courage of the many trainee fighter pilots who were based here during wartime Britain. On your 45 minute lesson, an expert flying instructor will guide you through and get you trying out the controls whilst airborne in the ultra-light Ikarus C42. There's also an on-site bar called Wings and a cafe, called the Holding Point, so why not bring family along as well to watch and make a day of it?
