40 Minute Tiger Moth Flight - Shoreham Airport
About the experience
Experience the thrill of flying in our Tiger Moth at Shoreham, situated near Brighton and Hove. This historic airport, in operation since 1910, is the country's oldest licensed, public-serving airfield, giving you a taste of aviation's golden days. Our Shoreham-based club offers the exciting choice of flying in a Tiger Moth or a Stampe. Both are classic vintage biplanes, and the Stampe, a Belgian-built aircraft, is derived from de Havilland's famous design. While the Tiger Moth has a tail slide and can only land on dry grass runways, the Stampe, with its tailwheel, can land on both hard surfaces and grass. Built in 1946, this post-war model served as a sporting trainer. The Tiger Moth, with the serial number NM137, holds the distinction of being the oldest and longest-serving plane at Shoreham Airport. Originally delivered to the RAF in 1940, it was later used for training and communications. After starting its civilian life as a training plane in 1948, it underwent a significant restoration project in 1991. Now flying under the Southern Aero Club livery with the name 'Spirit of Pashley', in honour of Cecil Pashley, the illustrious Chief Flying Instructor at Shoreham, who logged more than 20,000 hours training budding pilots. We are offering 40-minute flights in these iconic planes. Whether you opt for the Tiger Moth or its closely related cousin, you're in for a sensational aerial adventure over the picturesque West Sussex coast and countryside.
