About the experience

Get up close and personal with this historic ex-military Piper Supercub with a flight from one of the oldest airports in the UK. If you consider yourself a bit of a history buff, or simply want to try a vintage flight experience, you’re in the right place. Departing from Shoreham Airfield in West Sussex, you’ll already be treated to a slice of history as this venue opened in 1910 and has seen both world wars pass through its runways and skies. What's more, the Piper Club should be on every flying lover's list as this military version has had a long career in training pilots, with this aircraft in particular being built in 1952, it has seen a fair share of history. Lovingly restored with its original bright yellow paintwork it really is a joy to experience with its large enclosed cockpit promising wide views over the West Sussex skies. Not only will you get to experience a part of aviation history, but have an active role in preparing the aircraft for flight, as well as getting the opportunity to take the controls. From the start, you will help the pilot with pre-flight safety checks after listening to the briefing, and be shown basic manoeuvres in the skies. You’ll soon feel like a proper pilot as you are plugged into the radio calls and given a chance to fly this wonderful little aircraft. If you’re fascinated by vintage aircrafts or want to experience a slice of history, this flight in a Piper club shouldn’t go amiss.
