Get to grips with flying a Gyrocpter in this 30 minute flight departing from Damyns Hall Aerodrome on the Essex London border. If you’re trying to wrack your brains and think about what one of these nifty vehicles is and what it looks like, you’re not alone. Although it’s not the first aircraft that comes to mind when learning to fly, it’s certainly one that shouldn’t be neglected. These clever little aircrafts rely on rotor blades that slice through the air, and usually have an open cockpit making them super fun to fly. With no wings like on a traditional aircraft, even nervous flyers will enjoy an experience in one of these as turbulence becomes a feeling of the past. Gyrocopters typically sit at about 800 ft from the ground, giving you the perfect view over what’s happening down below. This route will take you over the Essex countryside and even into the East London area as you are treated to views of the Thames. Once you’re airborne and comfortable, your instructor will give you the opportunity to have a go with the controls and without having to worry about vertical take offs and landings, you’ll soon find these are easy to get the hang of and will be flying smoothly in no time.
