About the experience
If you’ve ever been in a helicopter ride and been curious about what it’s like to fly one of these nifty beasts, why not sign yourself up for a flying lesson in one? Based out of Redhill Airport in Surrey, rest assured you’ll be in very capable hands here as flying has been happening at this venue since the early 1930s. Fast forward to today, and Redhill is considered a site that specialises in helicopters and a bustle of aviation activity with all sorts of choppers flying in and out. If you’re wondering how your experience will pan out, every flight will start with a briefing. This gives you the chance to meet with your instructor in a classroom and go through the basics before you get into the air and head over the Surrey Hills. Once you’ve got a bit of knowledge under your belt, you’ll then board the 2 Seater R22 and take to the skies. The instructors here are particularly keen to get you flying as much as possible, so as you get the hang of the controls the more adventurous of you may even have the chance to make turns, climbs and maybe even master the art of hovering, a skill that is far more difficult than it looks. With expert instructors who encourage a hands on experience, not only will you be treated to stunning views over the Surrey landscape, but gain real practical skills and experience of flying a helicopter. This is a bucket list experience for keen aviation enthusiasts or anyone looking to build upon their flying repertoire.
