Elmsett Airfield Flying Experiences

Based on the western edge of the village of Elmsett, lying 25 minutes north west of Ipswich and 10 minutes north east of Hadleigh, Elmsett Airfield is located at Poplar Hall Farm, and has a reputation for being one of the best kept secrets for aviation in this part of the East of England.

It also has some excellent facilities available on-site, including hangarage (available on negotiation), outside parking with hard tie-down points and a dedicated aviation maintenance company are also based at the airfield as well.

Although it is unlicensed and located inside a MATZ - short for Military Aerodrome Traffic Zone - it's quite easy to get to, and as such, it is an ideal place for those budding pilots who are starting their aviation career and flight training.

Aerobatic Experiences in Suffolk

Indeed, Elmsett is so unassuming on first impressions, that you'd be forgiven for thinking that any flying experiences of the high-octane variety were on offer here. But that's where you'd be wrong, because an Aerobatic Flight experience is available to book at the airfield - and boy does it deliver on the adrenaline rush!

In a two-seater Robin 2112 aircraft you will, alongside your pilot instructor, have a full and comprehensive safety briefing prior to taking off up the grass runway. Once you're up in the air, you'll climb to altitude and that's where the action really steps up a notch!

After some smooth rolls from your pilot to get you used to the sensation of aerobatic flight, they'll then let loose with some truly jaw dropping twists, turns, spins and drops that are not for the faint of heart to experience! You'll also be taught the basics of doing a roll and loop and have the opportunity to take the controls to try out your daredevil flying skills!

Microlight Flights in Suffolk

For those that want to experience and enjoy a slightly calmer form of flying, there is also a selection of three Microlight Flight sessions, varying in length from 30 - 90 minutes, also in the Robin 2112 two-seater training aircraft available to book at the airfield.

Because the Robin is one of the most agile and responsive aircraft we offer for microlight flights, and it's also dual control and in a closed cockpit, it's one of the most perfect aircraft for flight training there is. And under the guidance of an experienced pilot, you'll master the basics of flying in no time at all!

Flying in the East of England

If you're looking to take Flight Simulator experiences in this same part of East Anglia, RAF Mildenhall, based near Bury St Edmunds, offers a number of fixed-base, high octane simulators of everything from classic Spitfires to Boeing 737 commercial airliners, utilising state-of-the-art technology and 360° screens.

Those looking to start their journey towards obtaining their PPL (Private Pilot's Licence) will be interested in our selection of Aeroplane Flying Lessons and Helicopter Flying Lessons, with session lengths to suit every budget, at Beccles Airfield, situated on the border where Suffolk meets with Norfolk.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the descriptions contained on our products are a true reflection of the experience, these do not form part of a contract. If on contacting the operator you feel that the activity taking place no longer accurately represents the activity purchased, the relevant agent will exchange the voucher or refund the purchase price.
