Information About the Robinson R22

First designed in 1973 by the legendary Frank D. Robinson of the Robinson Helicopter Company, and first entering production and taking flight in 1979, the Robinson R22 helicopter has slowly risen through the ranks to become one of the most versatile and popular choppers around.

The two-seated, two-bladed, single-engined helicopter was designed primarily for light utility, and to date over 4,800 units have been produced. Much of its success can be credited to its low acquisition but also its low operational costs.

Its uses vary from personal flight, all the way through to use as a livestock management tool in countries including Australia and North America. Furthermore, unlike many other aircraft, they hold their value incredibly well - it's not uncommon for overhauled R22s to sell for more than their original sale price.
