The Messerschmitt BF109 Vintage Warplane was a staple German WW2 aircraft deployed by the Luftwaffe as the main fighter bomber used against Britain and its allies during the conflict. During the years 1936-1945 there were 34,248 made which makes it the most produced fighter aircraft in history!

Service of this powerful plane began in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War and was then promptly deployed during the outbreak of WW2. It had a variety of uses throughout the war as a bomber escort, fighter bomber, ground attack vehicle and was even used for aerial reconnaissance.

It became a formidable sight in the skies, and even the Soviets nicknames it as, ‘the skinny one’ for its sleek appearance. Although sleek and slight, it was known as one of the most powerful aircrafts to haunt the skies with a maximum speed of 330mph, powered by a liquid cooled V12 engine.

The Luftwaffe, and the use of the Messerschmitt BF109 provided instrumental in German victories across Poland and Western Europe between 1939-1940, however, during the Battle of Britain they failed to obliterate the RAF despite destroying many British cities.
